Rapid Prototyping
CAPABILITIES
Rapid prototyping is an Avtec core competency. Our expertise spans two decades of prototype development, proof-of-concept experiment execution, in-situ measurement and design, and capability verification. Avtec's engineering services organization has experience at all levels of prototyping complexity, from the building of boards and boxes for equipment capability tests to the development of quick-reaction experimental systems for large aerospace programs. Drawing on their extensive familiarity with rapid prototyping tools, techniques and best practices, our cross-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists can respond rapidly to challenging program requirements.
TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES
Avtec's rapid component and system designs are often implemented with field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), using VHDL for algorithm and logic implementation. Using FPGAs and related tools, it is relatively easy to test the effect of requirements changes, determine the feasibility of new capabilities, or try new or alternative designs where risk has been identified. We routinely use these techniques whenever questions of capability or risk arise.
RAPID PROTOTYPES, RAPID RESULTS
For prototyping efforts that involve smaller-scale hardware or software subsystems, our engineers can deliver results within weeks. Working on large-scale systems, Avtec has generally deployed prototypes and experiments within six weeks to six months after program start. Regardless of the scope, Avtec's services organization develops sophisticated algorithms, software and hardware to meet the customer need and surpass expectations.
