Avtec's ELINK Emulator Brings Real-World Network Environments To The Test Bench

ELINK Enables Complete Pre-Deployment Testing For Complex Network Applications

Chantilly, VA - May 6, 2005 - Avtec Systems today announced the development of a real-time network emulator, ELINK, which provides an interactive, hardware-in-the-loop simulation of packet corruption, network delay and delay variations.

ELINK applications include: network performance and trade-off analysis, pre-deployment verification and validation testing of distributed network applications, and emulation of mobile ad-hoc networks. ELINK enables flexible selection of latency, error rates, and timing variations for the system under test. Highly programmable by the user, it provides insight and detailed statistics on message flow and data corruption within messages. 

The ELINK software identifies bottlenecks and provides information on data loss, timeliness, and other network performance measures.  A variety of link types can be modeled easily with ELINK, including airborne RF, space links, and long-distance wired terrestrial connections, allowing simulation of arbitrarily complex network environments. 

By enabling extremely realistic network testing and analysis in a lab setting, ELINK lets users realize a tremendous savings in cost and development time, and ensures that systems are rigorously tested under adverse network conditions before deployment.
